    • Clearer audio track names: tracks the provider sends without a language (e.g. Warner TV Film) are now called "Hauptton", "Alternative 1", "Alternative 2" instead of "Ton 1", "Ton 2".

    Fixed

    • No more jumping back on some channels: a few channels (e.g. 518 Sky Showcase, 520 Warner TV Film) currently arrive from the provider in ten-second chunks. The player gave up after 8 seconds without data, reconnected and jumped back in the programme every few seconds to minutes. It now waits up to 20 seconds, which the buffer easily covers.

    Good to know

    • A truly dead stream is now noticed after 20 instead of 8 seconds before castarr reconnects.

    Fixed

    • Back from the player keeps your group: after zapping past the edge of a group (or out of the favourites), leaving playback put the focus at the top of the screen instead of in the group you were browsing. It now lands on the channel you started from, in the same group.
    • Groups open on focus again: in the same situation the rail stopped opening groups as you moved over them, until the next channel was played.

    Fixed

    • Quality switch on the right channel: zapping while a quality switch was starting could store the pick for the wrong channel. The switch is now dropped when you have already moved on.
    • No pointless switch: picking the quality that is already playing just closes the menu, without blurring or reconnecting.
    • Less memory: the blurred frame is released after the fade-out instead of staying in memory, and it is only captured for a real switch.
    • Rare crash: a quality switch during a layout change can no longer crash the app.
    • Blur after a failed switch: if the new quality cannot be played, the blur disappears right away instead of after 10 seconds.

    • Visible quality switch: when you pick another quality in the player, the current picture blurs with the new quality's name on top and fades away as soon as the new stream plays. Before, nothing showed that the switch was happening.

    Improved

    • Zapping without hangs: CH+ and CH− show the next channel at once but open it only when you stop pressing. Zapping through six channels now opens one connection instead of six, which was what left the server stuck before.
    • Faster channel change: castarr waits until the old connection is really closed and then opens the new one in a single attempt. Dispatcharr now frees the connection immediately instead of after 2 seconds.
    • Channel names: provider names in capitals now read normally ("Das Erste", "Sky Sport News"); abbreviations such as ZDF, RTL or DAZN stay as they are.

    New

    • Notice when a quality fails: if, say, FHD is not on air, the player says "FHD sendet gerade nicht — weiter mit SD" instead of switching silently.
    • LIVE label: live broadcasts (Sky, DAZN) are marked LIVE in the list and the player.
    • UHD · HDR in the player: shown next to the channel name when the picture is UHD or HDR.
    • HDR in the quality list: UHD streams show "HDR (HLG)" once the nightly check has recorded it.
    • Clock: the time of day in the top bar.
    • Faded channels: a channel whose streams all failed the nightly check is shown faded. It can still be played; often it is only off air at night.

    Fixed

    • Wrong "Verbindung wird wiederhergestellt…": a normal channel change no longer shows the reconnect message.

    Fixed

    • Quality switch threw you back to the list: picking another quality (for example SD to FHD) closed the player while the new stream started in the background, audible behind the channel list. The player now stays open through the switch.
    • Pause during a reconnect: pausing while castarr reconnected was shown as playing and was undone by the next attempt.
    • Locked channels and the list: after locking, the list no longer waits to return to a hidden adult channel.

    Improved

    • Still-frame check more careful: a channel is only treated as "not on air" when the signs hold for two checks in a row.

    Good to know

    • Fast zapping on the server: Dispatcharr sometimes kept a closed connection counted after very fast zapping and then refused every channel. A watchdog on the server now frees it within about a minute.

    Fixed

    • Ordinary channels stopped as "not on air": 0.16.1 mistook the head start Dispatcharr gives every channel for an offline still frame. The check now only reacts to what a still frame really looks like. Skip 0.16.1.
    • "Verbindung wird wiederhergestellt…" stuck: after a successful reconnect the overlay kept saying it was reconnecting.

    Improved

    • Adult lock tightened: channels saved by older versions no longer show up unlocked at start, zap-back skips locked channels, and the phone remote's list updates as soon as the TV locks.
    • PIN kept on sign-out: signing out no longer clears the PIN, so it cannot be reset that way. The PIN is also left out of backups.
    • Phone remote: shows "Sender sendet gerade nicht" and reconnects instead of a generic playback error.

    Good to know

    • Forgot the PIN? Clear castarr's data in the TV settings.

    • Channels that are not on air: when the provider sends only a still frame instead of the channel (seen on some adult channels at times), castarr now notices within seconds, says "Sender sendet gerade nicht" and frees the connection, so the next channel starts right away instead of being refused.

    Fixed

    • Switching from an error: starting another channel while the player showed an error dropped back to the channel list instead of playing it.

    New

    • Adult channels behind a PIN: a new "Jugendschutz" card in the settings sets a four-digit PIN, typed on the number pad or the on-screen keypad. Until it is entered, adult channels stay out of the list, the channel numbers, CH+/CH− and the phone remote.
    • Locks itself again: leaving the app or standby hides the channels again, and a channel that is playing stops.

    Fixed

    • Settings fit the screen again: the club menu card had slipped below the bottom edge of the left column. It now sits under "App", and the columns scroll if space runs out.

    Good to know

    • Five wrong PINs block entry for five minutes, also across restarts.
    • Signing out clears the PIN, so a new sign-in starts with the channels hidden.
    • Without a PIN the adult channels are never shown; set one first.
